JUGGLING ACT

Max and Ari, the duo behind Oakland Surf Club, have quietly turned OSC into one of the Bay’s most eclectic retail destinations, curating everything from gear and boards, to vinyl and fine art–all while balancing a budding business with a new marriage and a brand new baby girl.

EL PERRO DEL MAR – “CHANGE OF HEART”

Here’s one to test your boundaries. The newest video from El Perro Del Mar. Often times when we come across a piece of art, there’s an infinite amount of ways we can choose to perceive it. All I ever hope is that you appreciate it. We can do and be anything we imagine, which quite frankly is liberating and terrifying at the same time. There will always be people telling us how to think, what to say, and what to do. But we must always strive to do what we feel. I think that’s what we’re meant to do. I think El Perro feels the same way.

Original performance art is rare. As is sometimes the case watching ballet, or platform diving, you sometimes anticipate what the performer will do but you can’t anticipate how they will do it without anyone getting hurt. That sense of drama, and concern, resulting in admiration after the achievement is generated by the work of El Perro del Mar. De donde son?

I agree. It’s a spectacle of sorts. Captivating in a sense because you can appreciate the piece for it’s complex simplicity.
