Kanye dropped another video. It goes. IMO not one of his best, but better than almost all other rap videos out. Shot in Hawaii. This video is notable for a few reasons. 1. The aerial shots are just dope. 2. Ye busted the jean jacket. (Who’s gonna rock it correctly first?) 3. 2nd Ye & Jeezy collab. Is this better than Put On though? Keep watching after the song plays out, Kanye’s out here feeling himself on 106 & Park. I don’t blame him. I would too.

KANYE WEST FEAT. YOUNG JEEZY – “AMAZING”
ZION I – “GEEK TO THE BEAT”
Before this video, I only really listened to Silly Putty on repeat. I know. I know. Kyle tried to put me up Zion I in 9th grade. I said, “na they’re wack, I’d rather listen to Ja Rule or somethin.” I apologize to Zion I and I apologize to Kyle. This is a great example of a video really complimenting a song, raising both works to a higher level of artistic appeal. This video is nothing short of amazing.
THE INTRODUCTION OF TAZ ARNOLD
Yes. Way way out there. But I feel him. his movement is very similar to the W&B movement. The promotion of thought. To get folks thinking, caring, loving, living. Taz Arnold exemplifies it. Yes his gear is outrageous but it’s outrageous because he’s realized the triviality of clothing, yet seeks to dominate and define that manner of presentation. This cat is really stuntin’ on folks. Below is the inaugural video, followed by excerpts from his interview with Complex magazine.
YEAH YEAH YEAH’S – “GOLD LION”
BAT FOR LASHES – “WHAT’S A GIRL TO DO”
You just gotta peep this video. The eeriness of this video is overshadowed by its uniqueness. It’s so simple, yet thought provoking, like, “who thought of this?” Word on the street is that she based the biking concept off the biking kids in E.T. This is off Bat For Lashes’ 2007 album Fur & Gold. New album Two Suns drops 6.04.09. This video is too dope.
CHESTER FRENCH – “SHE LOVES EVERYBODY”
All my homies are tired of me singing their praise. But I can’t help it. I believe in Chester French. They make that transcendent kinda music, when you can’t really tell when the song was made. Kym feels me. When their demo was initially released Kanye, Pharrell and Jermaine Dupri entered into a bidding war to sign the group. They ended up choosing Pharrell and signing with StarTrak. Maybe that gives a better indication of the potential of Chester French. IMO one of the best music videos out right now. (Up there with the Santogold & Kid Cudi)
60 SECOND INTERVIEW WITH MGMT
Q: Does anything ever surprise you?
Andrew: No
Simply known as Andrew and Ben, the duo has described themselves as, “men of little words.” The words they do choose to use however, have garnered global acclaim over the past three years, from dorm room sessions to international music festivals. ‘Electric Feel’ has become an anthem to many, same with ‘Time To Pretend” and ‘Kids.’ Fittingly, the duo’s next performance is at Bonnaroo.
KID CUDI – “DAY N NITE” (OFFICIAL VIDEO)
Almost the best video out. Best video of the week for sure. Cudi just came with something original, which is so appreciated. The regular mold of hip hop videos is so played that to conform is to admit that your shit isn’t worth the time to create meaninful and poignant works. Song is slightweight old but Cudi is doin it. Thank god he has the co-sign from Ye to have his visuals on par. Seems like they used the same animation as Ye did in the Heartless vid. Don’t even know if there is a “concept” for the video but there is an entertaining perspective taken on each character. The best thing Cudi’s got goin for him is that he’s different. A breathe of fresh air in a really stale game. Plus the Kanye co-sign and Cudi is winning. The best artists keep you wondering what they’ll do next.
